For more than ten years,
the Greater Blythewood Chamber of Commerce has been in charge of the town's annual Christmas parade.
However, the chamber board has recently decided to focus more on traditional chamber activities and has begun the transition to a citizen-committee-run Christmas parade with the town's blessing. The goal is to have the parade continue to act as a college scholarship fundraiser for deserving, local-area high school seniors.
This year's parade, on Sunday, December 13th, will be run by the chamber and the citizens committee together; with the 2016 parade run solely by the citizens committee.  The chamber would like to hold the first committee meeting in mid-September.  If you are interested in being a part of this exciting new effort, please contact the chamber's office manager, Kitty Kelly at (803) 712-3806 or kitty@blythewoodchamber.com.

One more thing.... Since I write this  newsletter, I want to take this opportunity to wish a very sweet grandparent,
Papa Moose,
a Happy 100th Birthday.

He was born September 12, 1915 and after many hardships made it to West Point in 1939. He served in WWII and had a wonderful military career of 30 years, taking 4 kids, and Grandma Bette Ann all over the world.  Papa Moose would be 100 years old on Saturday with quite a legacy behind him. My father  is still missed by his family.
