Join Dawndy Mercer
Plank, the Town of Blythewood in partnership with Westwood High
School and the American Cancer Society Sunday,
January 18, for a
kickoff celebration for the Relay for Life event.
The celebration will be from 5:30 to 7:30 in the Manor at Doko
Meadows. Community
volunteers are needed to assist the American Cancer Society in
planning the event as well as participating on the day of the
Relay. Visit online at relayforlife.org/blythewoodsc or call
Stephanie Reedy at the local American Cancer Society office at
750-1693 if you would like to help in this community-based event.
The Relay for Life event will be held on Friday, May 8 from 6 p.m.
until midnight on the track at Westwood High School.
To the
20 new National Board Teachers in Richland Two.
It is a hard earned award with a well deserved
stipend for these dedicated teachers. Congratulations
also to Killian Elementary's "Let's Move!" award: and to
the many students who made the holidays so much better for families
needing assistance.
We could have
our own "Let's Move" event at Doko Meadows Park to
fulfill the many New Year's Resolutions made January 1. Join the
many walkers we see each morning and start the year off right!
I hope 2015 brings you all good health and happiness! Thanks
for reading the newsletter.

a.m. and ends at 12. A donation of $10
per family is suggested. Children must be accompanied by an
adult. Dress warmly, bring a water bottle and we'll make
trail mix together before the walk, with hot cocoa afterwards.
Register in advance by calling Sara Green at 609-4778 or

Due to
inclimate weather the New Year
Celebration scheduled for Saturday, January 3, 2015 from 5:00 to 8:00pm at Doko Meadows Park will be
cancelled. It will be rescheduled at a later date. Our talented
Events Coordinator at Town Hall already has a great idea to
rescheduled the event with a celebration of global
significance for the town! Send your guess to me (kellym@townofblythewoodsc.gov)
as to what celebration this could be and get a treat from Town
Hall.
