Now you Know... The
first licensed barber in South Carolina was Will Taylor,
better know as Gap. He had a shop on Fire Tower Road in the '50's
and had one style of haircutting, shearing every hair off your
head! Gap was very skilled with his hands and made his own
ventilation system using the engine off of a 1946 Chevrolet.
His two granddaughters, June Smith and Rebecca Watts, both of
Blythewood, have fond memories of their witty grandfather and said
the fan would almost blow you out the front door. To read
more about this colorful Blythewood native, look in the Blythewood
Scrapbook.
Mr.
Branham was the first to answer this question and will receive a
treat from Town Hall.
