Will the First Lady of Blythewood be there with a video camera to later remind the Mayor that he is "a cook"? Chef Tony Crout, from Doko Smoke, will be there to guide Mayor Ross as he cooks his favorite recipe with 99 other prominent men from the Midlands. That should be fun! Effective May 5th, 2017 there will be a weight restriction on Bear Creek Road, over South Branch of Bear Creek ( S-40-221). A SCDOT inspection  recommended a weight restriction of 8 TONS per axle and 33 TONS GVW which was determined, based on the bridge type, existing bridge conditions and recent repairs.There is a map at Town Hall if you need more information. Septic Assistance in Twenty-five Mile Creek Watershed   Richland County Conservation Department has a new opportunity for residents in the Twenty-five Mile Creek Watershed to receive 60% financial assistance to repair or replace failing septic systems.  This watershed includes portions of northeastern Richland County and western Kershaw County (parts of Blythewood, Sandhill, Elgin, Pontiac, and Lugoff), as well as a sliver of southern Fairfield.  They are sending a direct mailer to everyone with an address in that area. Details are at  www.rcgov.us/twentyfivemile.  The Mayor received a wonderful email from Meredith, who was the catalyst behind Blythewood Gives. She was thrilled to tell the Mayor of all the reports/stories she received  about the Saturday, Blythewood Gives Day... Cookies made for the Bear Creek fire department, Grace Coffee gave free drinks to teachers, stuffed animals were given to the police and fire departments, 100 books donated to the R2Ready to Read program, toys to take to the Family Shelter and Toby's Place, a truck load of food for CAB, trash pick-ups in neighborhoods, 12 bags of clothing and supplies for the homeless, quarters left in the car wash for the next person's treat and IGA's food drive.  One gentleman paid for several peoples grocery!   198 hours were pledged for service in the community!  Sounds like an annual event to me with even more people doing random acts of kindness that supports our wonderful community!   Thanks from Meredith and the Mayor!  Blythewood Farmers Market will be back each Wednesday  through next October at Doko Meadows 171 Langford Road 4:00 to 7:00 pm Doko Manor Check out the website at www.dokomanor.com. Hosted by Central Carolina Community Foundation, Midlands Gives is a 24-hour online giving event, raising money and awareness for local nonprofits in eleven Midlands counties.
