The Town has a tree ordinance
that requires any property owner within the town
limits to apply for and get a Permit to cut down any tree on your property with a diameter
at breast height of 8 inches or greater and measures 4.5 feet above
the ground.
There is the exception that allows you to
cut down one tree of that size every two years without a tree
removal permit.
A tree removal permit may be granted where the location of any tree impacts
a septic field, where the location makes it a hazard to structures
or life, where it may inhibit the enjoyment of a pool, patio, or
deck, or where the location of an existing tree provides no
alternative but to place a structure outside the permitted building
setbacks. In such a circumstance and also if a tree is dead,
dying or diseased, the Zoning Administrator can issue a tree
removal permit. If you choose to use a tree service, ask them if
they have the required Blythewood contractor's business license.
For further information contact Town Hall at 754-0501
and ask for Kirk Wilson.

Christmas Fun Facts...
to show how smart you are at the holiday dinner
table!
Given the different time zones, Santa has
31 hours to deliver gifts, but his reindeer really have to fly,
since that means visiting 823 homes per second.
The U.S. Postal Service delivers 20
billion cards and packages between Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve.
The first candy cane dates back to 1670 in
Germany. According to holiday lore, a choirmaster distributed sugar
sticks bent into the shape of a shepherds’ crook to quiet his young
singers during Christmas services. Today more than 1.76 billion candy
canes are made for the holidays, enough to stretch from Santa
Claus, Indiana, to North Pole, Alaska, and back again 32 times.
