Now You Know..The answer to last weeks question....Mardenia and J.L Sharpe had 5 sons.  The oldest, John L. III, was the curator of Rare Books at Duke University and an expert on rare manuscripts and tablets.  He is fluent in many languages and is an expert translator. Thanks to all the Sharpes in Blythewood who do so much for our community! Patrick K. was the first to answer the question and will be given a treat from Town Hall.

Can you guess what installation Mr. H. B. McLean, Mr. W.B Cooper, Mr. Walter Ballentine, Mr. E.S. Eargle and Mr. D.L. Branham supervised in 1948? In the Historical Society's papers, Blythe-Words, it was stated as "one of the greatest improvements that has come to Blythewood in many years". Do you recognize many of these names? They were instrumental in so many aspects of life in  the early days in Blythewood.
If  you know the answer to this question email  Kellym@townofblythewoodsc.gov to receive a treat from Town Hall.

He was awarded the contract to pave the Lincoln Tunnel, the Holland Tunnel and the George Washington Bridge while in New Jersey. He later moved back to Blythewood and continued in the construction business as well as purchasing property.  If you know the man I am speaking of, please send me an email.  The first person to know the answer will receive a little treat from Town Hall. Did You Know...I'm sure you all know about the two shops on the corner of Wilson Blvd and Langford Road.  If not, check them out!  One of the buildings use to be called "De Sto". In the Blythewood Scrapbook, there is a print of Harold Branham's painting of "De Sto".  Bunk Wooten originally built the store, then later the Dixon family opened "De Sto" in the early 70's .  In Harold Branham's painting, Claude Bundrick can be seen driving his tractor in the background, making his daily run to town as I mentioned in an earlier newsletter.
If you want to see Harold Branham's paintings we have a wonderful collection at Town Hall.  We are opened from 8 to 5 each day and have the Blythewood Scrapbook for sale here.  There are so many great stories about our town  in this book and so many  family names you will recognize!
