This Weekend in Blythewood
October 9th, 10th & 11th

To Blythewood High Football team for beating Irmo Yellow Jackets!  And to our former Bengal- USC Drum Major winner; the Westwood High Arts Departrment Grant winners; The Blythewood Bombers 9U champs;  our 2 BHS Merit Scholars who are  attending Wofford; and to our hard working Blythewood students who were on the Dean's list at Coker College,  Clemson's  Masters graduate  and President's List for achievement at the Citadel. Way to go!

Did You Know...I'm sure you all know about the two shops on the corner of Wilson Blvd and Langford Road.  If not, check them out!  One of the buildings use to be called "De Sto". In the Blythewood Scrapbook, there is a print of Harold Branham's painting of "De Sto".  Bunk Wooten originally built the store, then later the Dixon family opened "De Sto" in the early 70's .  In Harold Branham's painting, Claude Bundrick can be seen driving his tractor in the background, making his daily run to town as I mentioned in an earlier newsletter.
If you want to see Harold Branham's paintings we have a wonderful collection at Town Hall.  We are opened from 8 to 5 each day and have the Blythewood Scrapbook for sale here.  There are so many great stories about our town  in this book and so many  family names you will recognize!

FYI...Under the Town Code, yard sale signs cannot be placed on any curb, sidewalk, post, pole, tree, or other surfaces located on or across any public street or right-of-way, or placed on stakes on any property unless permitted by the land owner. We receive many calls at Town Hall about this and wanted you to know.

Also...Know that you can call Town Hall (754-0501 without leaving your name if desired), to tell us of any unsightly areas in our town that need to be adressed...trash, junk piles, signs that aren't following code etc.  We all want what is best for Blythewood and appreciate your input.

Don't forget the Tournament of Bands, Saturday, October 11, beginning at 9 am at BHS Stadium. Tickets are available at the gate.   30 bands will be competing throughout the day.

What great weather to join  the many walkers we see from Town Hall each day. What a great way to start the day in Blythewood!
