Now you Know... The first licensed barber in  South Carolina was Will Taylor, better know as Gap. He had a shop on Fire Tower Road in the '50's and had one style of haircutting, shearing every hair off your head! Gap was very skilled with his hands and made his own ventilation system using the engine off of a 1946 Chevrolet.  His two granddaughters, June Smith and Rebecca Watts, both of Blythewood, have fond memories of their witty grandfather and said the fan would almost blow you out the front door.  To read more about this colorful Blythewood native, look in the Blythewood Scrapbook.
Mr. Branham was the first to answer this question and will receive a treat from Town Hall.

Do you Know...  what famous entertainment group performed in Blythewood, at what was then the University Club in the late 1980's?  This incredible group belted out the best music which I'm sure could be heard all over town.  They performed in an elegant tent with fabulous food, drinks and a large crowd that danced the night away!  If you know the answer, email kellym@townofblythewoodsc.gov to receive a treat from Town Hall.

Now zoon ahead to Saturday, February 28, 2015....  The Blythewood Community Choir equally belted out the most moving, beautiful music I have ever heard  in celebration of Blythewood Township Black History Month Celebration.  Plus the Bethel Baptist Church Praise and Worship Dance Team was a real treat. The event was wonderful. As I sat there, I so wished the entire community could have heard the beautiful music and felt the connected  fellowship in the room.  I will remind you next year to put this date on your calendar!
