Can you believe this is Main Street/Wilson Boulevard/Highway 21?  The Wilson family was a prominent family and very active in community and church life in Blythewood.
This week I was asked to include Mr. Wilson's son, who now lives in Charleston, on our list to receive the newsletter.  Please pass on the newsletter to friends and family who may enjoy the news of Blythewood and these little history tidbits.  Or direct friends to the Town of Blythewood's official website where they can sign up to receive the newsletter.

One of Blythewood's best historians was Hudnalle McLean, Sr.
Mr. McLean, Sr. took many photographs of the town and wrote accounts of life in Blythewood, some dating back to his first grade memories in 1909.  If you talk to anyone who grew up in this area ( and is older than 40) they will mention Wilson's Grocery Store as seen in this photo. Not only was Mr. McLean a great historian, but he also ran the Blythewood Post Office from 1933 to 1969. When he retired, his wife, Gladys McLean, then took over his job. Can you imagine the stories that were exchanged from these two structures in Hudnalle's photo?
