I love to check out the
Historical Society's timeline on occassion to get a perspective of where we came from and where we are now.  At the recent Town Council election debate it was mentioned that Blythewood may grow 60 % in the next 20 years.  Let's go back...

1930's...
The first telephone service was provided to Blythewood by "Eargle Line" on US 321. This was a party line system built by local residents using poles donated by Boyd Eargle.

1939...
Fairfield Electric was started.

1940...
Blythewood Road and Langford Road were paved using different sizes of gravel experimentally.

1948...
McNulty Road was paved.

1960...
Mr. Jolly remembers that Farrow Road, SC 555 was still dirt.

All the candidates at the recent debate talked about growth. We are still fixing our roads and looking at infrastructure!
