May 24th-27th Weekend

    Happy Memorial Day
This Weekend in Blythewood
May 24th, 25th, 26th and 27th

Happy Memorial Day

Three years after the Civil War ended, on May 5, 1868, the head of an organization of Union veterans - the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) - established Decoration Day as a time for the nation to decorate the graves of the Union and Confederate soldiers who died in the Civil War.    It is believed the date of May 30th was chosen because flowers would be in bloom all over the country.  By the 20th  century, Memorial Day had been extended to honor all Americans who have died while in military service.

As you enjoy your weekend, take some time to remember those who have died while fighting for the freedoms we so often take for granted.

Happy Memorial Day
Weekend!

Summertime's
calling me !

Everything but the ocean can be yours on Saturday night when "The Sensational  Epics " share their sweet beach music sounds at this year's 5th Annual Blythewood Beach Bash!   Bravo Blythewood is once again hosting this  fun, relaxing event being held at Cobblestone Park on Saturday starting at 5pm.
Polish up your dancing shoes or just plan to relax in your lawn chair, but make sure you're a part of this great annual event that raises money for The American Cancer Society
Someone you  know may be fighting the battle against cancer and this is a fun way to lend support and make a difference in those lives.
Some of our Blythewood Artists Guild (B.A.G.) members are getting into the giving spirit again this year by offering up  pieces of artwork and creatively painted adirondack chairs in a silent auction.
All of the proceeds from ticket sales and the auction will go directly to the Cancer Society.  Bravo Blythewood is proud to have raised  close to  $20k through this event with your support.
Bring your lawn chair and enjoy wine and beer that will be for sale, as well as  hamburgers and hot dogs galore served up by Cobblestone's own Chef Kevin.
Don't miss it!

Oh, the weather outside was frightful...

The month of May did not give us the usual sunshine and heat that we've been used to in recent years and as a result our farmers that will be participating in  The Northeast Farmers Market don't quite have the produce they had hoped to have by this time.  SO...  the market opening has been moved to  Monday, June 3rd  in Doko Meadows!  Every Monday throughout the summer vendors will be gathering in the park from 3:00pm - 7:00pm to bring you fresh veggies, jellies, herbs and so much more.
Plan to stop by after work and pick up some of your favorite things.  This year the market is partnering with Lake Carolina as another location for the Northeast Farmers Market so if you miss our Monday market you'll still be able to shop local at the Lake Carolina location in Market Square.
