Did you Know...
Memorial Day became a Federal holiday in 1971. Memorial Day is often confused with Veterans Day, which honors all U.S. Military Veterans.  Memorial Day honors our brave soldiers whose lives were lost protecting our country.  We thank all our community members who have served our country living and deceased.

Here are a few facts:
  • Approximately 620,000 soldiers died in the Civil War
  • 116,516 died in WWI
  • ~406,399 died in WWII
  • 54,246 died in Korea
  • 58,209 died in Vietnam
  • 4,488 died in Iraq
  • 2,229 died in Afghanistan
  • Plus many others in the line of duty, protecting our country.
  • On a lighter note...Memorial Day is thought of as the beginning of summer with picnics, family and fun. Veterans Day is considered the end of summer.

Welcome to Blythewood,
