What's with all the Zoning Signs around Town ???

They are about a Draft Zoning Text Amendment for Commercial Zoning Districts...

As part of the implementation of the adopted Town of Blythewood Master Plan, Town Council is considering this zoning text amendment that would affect all commercially-zoned properties in Blythewood.  This zoning text amendment will be accompanied by a corresponding zoning map amendment, both of which have been recommended by the Planning Commission.

Pages 1 through 90 are proposed to replace the existing Zoning Chapter text for the NC Neighborhood Commercial, OC Office Commercial, and GC General Commercial zoning districts.

 

Pages 91 through 94 are new definitions for the Zoning Chapter.

Pages 95 through 155 show proposed deletions (red strikethrough text) and insertions (red underlined text) to bring related sections of the existing Zoning Chapter into consistency with this zoning text amendment.

The tan/yellow shading within the document represents the accumulated editorial changes made since the Planning Commission approved the 5/31/11 version at their meeting on 6/6/11.

The LiveWell Blythewood Farmers Market is becoming the place to visit and relax on a Friday afternoon in Blythewood. Come stock up for your weekend and enjoy some samplings of tasty treats.  Breads, jellies, and  fall apples  are just a few of the delights you'll find.   Live music this week is presented by Phil Markert on the keyboard.  Enjoy his lively renditions while browsing art from the Blythewood Artists Guilds ( B.A.G ) Shop tent and shopping with our SC vendors.  AND don't forget..... Pawley's Front Porch food truck is with us each week, so grab a snack or your  tailgating munchies.   Nothing could be finer than a fall afternoon in Blythewood, South Carolina!!  See you at the Market!!!

Richland County Transportation Penny

Richland County Council voted to place the Transportation Penny on the ballot after a great deal of deliberation and study, which began in 2006 when it established a 39 member citizen led Transportation Study Commission. This Commission held numerous public input meetings and completed a comprehensive study with assistance from a global consulting firm which specializes in planning, development, design, construction, operations, and maintenance of critical infrastructure. The study addressed failing roads, the lack of sidewalks and greenway infrastructure, and the unstable bus system. The council also sought the input of other area elected officials. Chef William Turner Appreciation Night

Blythewood High School and the Community will be having "Chef William Turner Appreciation Night", tonight, Wednesday, the 19th, at 7:00pm in the big gym at Blythewood High School. Chef Turner's last day at Blythewood High School will be this Friday.

Please join us as we honor Chef and his Culinary Arts Program's contributions to our school. This is an event for ALL students, faculty, staff, family members, and any member of the community. Please spread the word!! This will be a FUN night to CELEBRATE Chef and his students!! There will be a few surprises as well!

I Wish This Place Was... ???

You know you’ve always wanted to put in your two cents worth.  You’ve thought so many times about what new shop should come to town so you don’t have to travel so far to pick up what you need.  Well, you’re in luck!  The Town of Blythewood wants to know what you’re thinking about the former Movie Gallery space in the University Village shopping center. 

It’s simple  to tell us what you’re thinking. 1)  Just stop by the Movie Gallery store front , 2)  write your thought on one of the “I wish this place was….”    labels and  3) Stick it to the front window and that’s it!!  It’s as easy as 1-2-3!  The Town will collect and tabulate and then see what can be done to recruit a business to the community’s liking.  What could be better!!  Think fast, though, you’ve only got 2 weeks.  The “I wish this place was…”

Campaign will run from August 9 – August 23.
