The Blythewood gymnasium at the Blythewood Academy, is
situated on land given to the School District by the Hawley family.
Mrs. Hawley still lives across the street from the gym
and is now in her nineties. The gym was built in 1938
for about $15,000 under the supervision of the WPA.

Dr. John Nelson, Curator of the A.C. Moore Herbarium,
USC will speak about S.C. native plants and Elizabeth Sudduth,
Director Irving Department of Rare Books at USC will talk about
Mark Catesby's Art and Work, an 18th Century naturalist and artist
who studied and painted plants and animals of the Carolinas a
hundred years before Audubon.
