Me and My Shadow
Thanks to a program at Muller Road Middle School, Mayor Mike Ross had company today as he went about his mayoral duties and meetings.
Miss Heyward Elizabeth Moak shadowed her granddad to find out just what being Mayor is all about.  She got situated in the office early and attended a planned meeting with the Historical Society.  One of her most important jobs was giving an iPad lesson to the Mayor.....which  begs the question....who shadowed who?  Great job Heyward!

Sibling rivalry at its best!!!!
Enjoy the game on Sunday and oh yeah, don't forget to check out all those new high dollar commercials coming out.

January 25-27th Weekend

Planning takes time but the fruits of the labor are starting to take shape.  Take a look around.  Things are lookin' good in Blythewood !
This Weekend in Blythewood
January 25th, 26th, 27th

Sign of the times!

Have you noticed the new signage going up on the entrance ramp coming into Blythewood?    What a welcoming sight it will be for 'homebodies' and visitors alike when the sprucing up project at I-77's  Exit 27 is complete.  Directional signs and all the regular traffic cautions look very impressive on their black poles and with their framed corners.   When the project is complete travelers will be getting off the interstate just to find out what's going on at this smartly dressed exit.
There's no question about it.  Blythewood is dressing for success!!

Paving the Way...
"Old Man Winter"  got in the way, this week, so the last bit of paving in Doko Meadows should be finished by next week's end.    Who knew the temps had to be 'just right' for that black pavement to settle in and stay put?

What a difference a week makes. Bundle up and start the fire it's time to settle in. No matter the weather, it's always a great weekend in Blythewood!
Straight from the Horse's mouth!
Blythewood is proud of its Equestrian roots and even prouder that those roots have grown equestrian programs that are thriving today, right here in our little town.
The USC Equestrian Team has garnered more than a few championships since 2005. They include being the 2005 Overall National Champions and the 2007 Overall National Champions. Add to that the 2005, 06, and 07 Hunter Seat National Champions, the 2007 Western Reserve National Champions AND the 2012 Southern Equestrian Champions!
The Intercollegiate Horse Show Association also houses the USC Equestrian Club Team at Three Fox Farm at 1046 Mickle Road. The IHSA provides collegiate riders of all skills the opportunity to compete individually and as teams in equestrian competitions. The members of the IHSA teams, here in Blythewood, have been extremely successful over the years and we look forward to cheering them on to more successes in the future.
Both teams will be posting their spring schedules soon so you'll have the opportunity to be a part of watching these great programs compete.

Have fun this weekend!!
Service with a smile
Blythewood's own Janet Moak, daughter-in-law of Mayor Mike Ross, works her magic for Moe's Southwest Grill on tonight's episode of "UNDERCOVER BOSS'".
Janet has worked as the Catering Director of MOE'S for 2 years and has responsiblity for catering training, customer service and catering sales for the company. She works with the Columbia, Aiken, Augusta, Charlotte and Gastonia markets.
They say character is what you do when you don't know anyone's watching. We thank Janet for proving 'them' right. Character matters and you get the chance to watch Janet in action tonight at 8pm on CBS. Get the popcorn popped and get ready to be impressed!
Congrats to Janet on her television debut!!
Coming in March!
Kids get ready!!! As part of the Blythewood Omnium: Presented by Cobblestone Park, there's going to be bicycle races for elementary age children. What fun!!! How far can your child ride? The Omnium will be held March 9th and 10th. More specifics will be available shortly...but in the meantime....get those bicycles our of the garage and GET ROLLING!

January 11-13th Weekend

This Weekend in Blythewood
January 11th, 12th, 13th
We're welcoming some guests to Blythewood next week and congratulating a grand accomplishment! With springlike weather....what could be better than a weekend in Blythewood?
Is there a Doctor in the house?
There is at Blythewood Middle School! Congratulations to Brenda Hafner, Principal of BMS, on receiving her Doctorate of Education! The eight years of work concluded December 12, 2012....yes, 12.12.12...and the degree was conferred on her on December 31, 2012.
The next time you ring up the middle school...be sure to ask if the Doctor is in.
Kudos to Dr. Hafner for all her hard work!!! We are so proud!!

Did you know that the USC Gamecock Equestrian Team calls Blythewood home over on Syrup Mill Road? The two time National Champions will be starting the spring portion of their schedule in February and we look forward to supporting these ladies and their coach Boo Major as they train and compete for a possible third National Championship. Stay tuned for dates and information on their competitions with Texas A & M and Delaware State. They'll have the 'home stable' advantage so plan to come out and support!
Dates and times will be announced soon.
Enjoy the Weekend!
Bienvenidos a Blythewood!!

The students will spend 10 weeks in Blythewood, living with their sponsoring families. They will attend classes at BHS and Westwood and will have extraordinary opportunities to travel our state and make life-long friends. We say 'Welcome to Blythewood'! Enjoy your stay in our wonderful little town!
Coming in March!
