Community Internship Program

The students in Blythewood High School's Community Internship Program will be showcasing their career internships and community service projects on Thursday, January 9 at 8:45 am in the small gym at BHS.  Students in the program have been working with mentors across the Midlands and getting a taste of just what this working life is all about.   The students have been exposed to careers in a huge variety of fields and will 'show off' the projects in which they've been a part.  Plan to come take a look at what some of our Blythewood students are learning.  There's more to school than what's in a book!
Here are just a few of the mentors that have participated this semester.

The Path to Fame
Excerpt: By J. Gordon Coogler

The Path is old and
well-beaten I know
That leads away o'er
the hills to fame;
I've started therin
and I cannot turn back,
I've naught to regret,
and no one to blame.

Have a Wonderful Weekend!

You could be a star!

Are You a Poet and Don't Know It?

Well, this man, J. Gordon Coogler WAS a poet and he and many others knew his work quite well.  Mr. Coogler was born in Blythewood in 1865 and became known for his poetry throughout Columbia.  In fact, J. Gordon owned a print shop and would write "Poems While You Wait".  What a 'novel' idea!! Stand aside Hallmark!
Mr. Coogler's poetry was not always well received but Bravo Blythewood deems his work quite worthy of a celebration so a J. Gordon Coogler Poetry Festival has been created in his honor and memory.
Make plans now to find your inner poet and come Coogle!
