Blythewood Youth Baseball and Softball League fall registration is on now through August 22. Practice starts August 25th with the season games beginning September 8th.

This Weekend in Blythewood August 21st, 22nd & 23rd       To all the Blythewood Community for making it through another S.C. summer! ( With more hot weather to come before the fall.) Now you Know...Emily Bookhart became the principal of the Blythewood School. Her house is on the walking tour of Blythewwod at 193 Langford Road.  Jessie W. again knew the answer and received a treat from Town Hall. Did you Know...In 1992 H.B. McLean wrote a very detailed article about the Blythewood School .  He attended first grade there in 1909 and recalls the 2 large rooms seperated by folding doors.  The children provided the wood for the wood burning stove and a bell hung from the top of the building and rang to announce the beginning of school, recess and the end of the school day. Most of the students walked to school but some came in horse and buggy.  Dr. Mike Langford had the only car in town and brought his children in the car on occassion. Practice starts August 25th with the season games beginning September 8th.  For registration information go to www.BYBSL.org The Blythewood, Columbia Northeast and Greater Irmo Lions Clubs will host  a "Night for Sight & Hearing" on Sunday, August 24 from 4:00 to 7:00 at Doko Manor in Blythewood. Three gospel groups will share their music to raise funds for the needy in the community.  There will be a silent auction, door prizes throughout the day and a snack kitchen with food, dessert and drinks for sale.  The cost is $6 and tickets are available from any Lions Club member or email: ffiremedic19@yahoo,com or may be purchased at the door. The Blythewood Arts Center is offering a basket weaving class on August 30, 9:30 to 4:30. The class will be taught by Bonnie Geiger and costs $55.  For more information call 550-9323. Get ready for the Third Annual Big Grab-43 Mile Yard Sale coming to Blythewood, Ridgeway  and Winnsboro  September 5th and 6th. Individuals and businesses can be sponsors for $20 or $50.
