March 22nd-24th Weekend

Where is that pesky groundhog, now?  Bundled up in a blanket somewhere would be our guess.  Yes, Spring has officially arrived but the springlike weather the rodent promised is nowhere in site yet.  Still, it's always a great weekend in our little town of Blythewood!!

Tee for Two

Tee it up with a friend for a fun night of "Glow Ball' on April 19 at the Golf Club of South Carolina at Crickentree.  The Greater Blythewood Chamber of Commerce is presenting 9 holes of golf fun with a shotgun start at 7:30pm.  Two person teams are $100 and individual players are $60.  All the proceeds will go to scholarships for our local Blythewood students.  Come tee it up and have a ball...."Glow Ball" that is.

Johnny Appleseed would Be Proud

There won't be any apples, but Johnny would sure be happy to know that so many beautiful trees are being planted in the new Doko Meadows Park.  You can be a part of this wonderful tribute to nature by 'adopting' a tree as a fitting memorial or celebration of someone special in your life or a special occasion to be remembered.

The Town of Blythewood and the Blythewood Garden Club are excited to partner to bring you

The Doko Meadows Commemorative Tree Project.

Choose from five varieties of trees that will be planted in the park.

Hightower Willow Oak
October Glory Red Maple
Fruitless Sweet Gum
Chinese Pistache
Bald Cypress

Walk this way......

A senior student at Blythewood High School is hosting a 5K run/walk at the school on Saturday, April 13th at 10a.m.  The race is a fundraiser for the Hidden Wounds organization, which is a local group dedicated to providing counseling and services for veterans suffering from PTSD and related illnesses.  What a wonderful way to support our veterans and stay fit at the same time!

No Kangaroo on this Barbie

The Rotary Club of Blythewood won't be serving any kangaroo burgers at their fundraiser on Saturday....just good 'ole southern BBQ.     The good Rotarians of Blythewood are working to help two Blythewood High School culinary students get to Australia to participate in a culinary exchange program that was set up last year by Chef William Turner and Principal, Keith Price.
Come enjoy a casual evening of great food and terrific jazz in the Weatherby Cul-de-Sac, located in the Windermere subdivision of LongCreek Plantation.  The Jazz starts at 5pm and the BBQ will be ready to eat or take-out at 6pm.  $20 gets you everything you need to support our local students on their trip down under.  See you there, mate!
