 Saddle up and stay in step 'cause  this weekend proves to bring some great fun and music to our terrific little town.

This Weekend in Blythewood October 11th, 12th and 13th Strike Up The Band! Let the drums roll out..... Let the trumpet call.... While the people shout...... Strike up the BANDS! Thirty bands from all over the state of South Carolina will come to compete for top band in their classs on Saturday, October 12 at Blythewood High School.  Gates will open at 9:30am and the first competition begins at 10:45am.  Come early to get a great seat and stay put for all the music and talent that will be on display.  The Town of Blythewood    Tournament of Bands   Blythewood High School     Saturday, October 12       Gates open @ 9:30am Competition begins at 10:45am Kickoff on Friday! Westwood vs. Dreher @ Dreher Kickoff@ 7:30pm               Go Redhawks!    If you're a member of the Blythewood, Columbia, Fairfield or Kershaw Chambers of Commerce plan to enjoy CHAMBERFEST on October 24th. Come network and make new connections at this after-hours event sponsored by the Blythewood Chamber and enjoy the festivities that will begin at 5:30pm at The Manor at Doko Meadows.  Tee it Up Tee it high and plan to play a round of golf to help the Rotary Club of Blythewood raise some scholarship money for our Blythewood kids. The 12th Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament will be held at Columbia Country Club on Monday, October 28th.  The shotgun start is at 12:30pm but come early to warm up and enjoy a boxed lunch at 11:00am. Kiss a Horse Our USC Equestrian girls are back in town this Friday after coming off the best road showing in the history of the program.  Both Deleware State and SMU were soundly defeated last weekend when the team traveled to Dover for their meet. USC now boasts a 4-0 record and is now gearing up to ride against the Georgia Bulldogs on Friday, October 11 @ 2:00pm.  Bring the kids 'cause the team is hosting 'Elementary Day at One Wood Farm" where kids and parents are invited to enjoy some fun festivities, learn about horses and support the Gamecocks!  You may not be allowed to actually kiss a horse but what a treat there is in store!! The courses for the fall session are: Watercolors -taught by Esther Melton -must have 5 in the class- Mondays Acrylics/Oils -taught by Esther Melton- must have 5 in the class - Wednesdays iPAD Basics - taught by Morgan Moates- must have 10 in the class - Tuesdays Bass Guitar Lessons - taught by Tyrone Mack (individual lessons)  Coming soon! Good Eats for Life - taught by Katherine Shavo- Tuesdays Starting Oct. 29. All classes will be held at Muller Road Middle School beginning the week of October 13  (except for Good Eats ) and are on the town website and ready for your perusal.
