Historically Speaking



Come on over to the Langford-Nord House on Tuesday, October 8th and learn some interesting tidbits about Blythewood's early history.  Join the members of the Historical Society to hear Wade Dorsey, resident historian, present the program "The History of Blythewood".
The Historical Society meeting will be held at 100 McNulty Street at 7:00pm

If you're a member of the Blythewood, Columbia, Fairfield or Kershaw Chambers of Commerce plan to enjoy CHAMBERFEST on October 24th. Come network and make new connections at this after-hours event sponsored by the Blythewood Chamber and enjoy the festivities that will begin at 5:30pm at The Manor at Doko Meadows. 

Tee it Up




Dust off those clubs and plan to play a round of golf to help the Rotary Club of Blythewood raise some scholarship money for our Blythewood kids.
The 12th Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament will be held at Columbia Country Club on Monday, October 28th.  The shotgun start is at 12:30pm but come early to warm up and enjoy a boxed lunch at 11:00am.

It's not too late to register for this round of classes in the Blythewood Brainery.  Classes start this coming week but you can still save your spot by registering this weekend.  Get creative and sign up for the Watercolors or Acrylics and Oils painting classes with Esther Melton.  Find out how that new iPad of yours REALLY works or sign up to learn some nutritional tips that could lead to a healthlier lifestyle.  No matter your interest, get to your computer and register now.  You can have some fun and be just a bit smarter in a few weeks! 
The Blythewood Brainery is a collaboration of Muller Road Middle School, Bravo Blythewood and The Town of Blythewood.
The courses for the fall session are:
Watercolors -taught by Esther Melton
Acrylics/Oils -taught by Esther Melton
iPAD Basics - taught by Morgan Moates
Bass Guitar Lessons - taught by Tyrone Mack (individual lessons)  Coming soon!
Good Eats for Life - taught by Katherine Shavo

All classes will be held at Muller Road Middle School beginning the week of October 6 and are on the town website and ready for your perusal.

Things To Do


Practice Makes Perfect


It's all about the music and the marching when 30 high school bands converge on Blythewood High School October 12th.  One of the most prestigious band competitions in the state will take place on that Saturday, when The Town of Blythewood sponsors this year's Tournament of Bands, hosted by the  Blythewood and RidgeView High School Marching  Bands.  Come enjoy the fierce competition between high school bands, large and small, from all over the state.

It will be the grandest of openings when The Manor at Doko Meadows is officially introduced on Sunday, October 20.  The ribbon cutting will be at 5:00pm with a reception to follow.
