August 2nd-4th Weekend

The Dog Days of summer are upon us with the promise of the heat getting turned up.  No matter the temperature, though,  get out and enjoy yourself this weekend in the
coolest little town around!
This Weekend in Blythewood
August 2nd, 3rd and 4th

Some like it HOT!

If you're into peppers of all descriptions you need to make a trip to the Northeast Farmers Market this Monday at Doko Meadows.
Julie Jones came by last week and purchased some jalapeno peppers from Grands Garden.  She took them home and roasted them up, filled them with cream cheese and added Tomato Ginger Jelly that she bought from First Fruits Enterprises.  What a great combo!!
Come join the folks that are finding wonderful fresh produce, SC Shrimp, fresh breads and local honey at the market.  Create a farm to table recipe and let us know about it on the Northeast Farmers Market Facebook page.
What a great way to enjoy fresh and healthy products from our local vendors!!  We'll see you at the market!!

Remember the NEFM is at two great locations this year...Doko Meadows on Monday and Lake Carolina on Thursday...both run from
3pm -7pm.
Look who's coming to the market next week!  We hope to see you there, too!

Who Knew?

The Old Farmer's Almanac lists the traditional period of Dog Days as the 40 days beginning
July 3rd - August 11th, coinciding with the ancient rising of the Dog Star, Sirius.  These are typically the days of the year with the least rainfall in the
Northern Hemisphere.

Have a
Doggone Great Weekend!

I Can See
Clearly Now...

Thanks to the Blythewood Lions Club there are many people who can now see clearly.  Through their numerous fundraising projects the Lions have raised money that support those in our community with sight and hearing impairments.  This year our Blythewood Lions Club is bringing  the annual Night for Sight and Hearing Gospel Concert to The Manor at Doko Meadows.
What a great opportunity for everyone to come out and listen to some great gospel music and make a difference for someone who may need a pair of glasses or even eye surgery.
This year the
Night for Sight and Hearing
will be held at
The Manor at Doko Meadows
in Blythewood
August 25th
4:00pm - 6:00pm

Tickets are only $6 and can be purchased from Rhett Hair @ 803.261.4758 or
fffiremedic19@ yahoo.com
Tickets may also be purchased at
The B.A.G. Shop

Start Stretching!

You've still got a month to shape up for the 4th Annual Blythewood Labor Day Run.  Hit the pavement and get some road miles on those shoes, then run to your computer and register for the 10k or 5k races.  The race course starts at Blythewood Middle School and runs through Longcreek Plantation on Monday, September 2, Labor Day.  This popular race has grown each year with over 400 participants  coming from all over the state and beyond.  So go on....you can do it!  Get out there and start running!
